Why Lancism?

Many of the great ideas in history had an ‘~ism’ in them: Buddhism, Marxism, Taoism, Creationism, Darwinism and more…

I thought it would be cute to include an ‘~ism’ in naming my site rather than call it LanceOng.com, which would be so cliche and boring.

An ‘~ism’ is basically a system of beliefs accepted as authoritative by one group or another. And since this site is about philosophy of living, it is a system of beliefs, therefore an ‘~ism’ is a good word to use.

This site is meant to be entertaining and informative. The keyword here is ‘info-tainment’. I try to communicate important ideas in a light-hearted way.

I remember once in my Toastmaster’s Club, one of my speech evaluators kept stressing that a presentation could only be informative OR entertaining. There was no in between.

This pissed me off because that would mean there was no category for my style!

Purpose of this Blog

Lancism philosophy is an extension of my mission to help others. I’m not a super guru who knows everything about anything…. My expertise is limited to the areas of human psychology and spirituality.
